The construction sector requires smart use of social media

It is not even that long ago: you advertised with a folder or in a local newspaper. Internet? Above all, that was expensive and unnecessary. You got customers through word of mouth and maybe you sponsored a sports club in your area with your company. Now you can no longer do without a website and social media. How do you make optimal use of this? Read the DTG tips here.

Good plan

The first tip to properly tackle online marketing for your company on the Internet is immediately the most important: make a solid plan. You don't have to be on all social media. Instead, choose one or two platforms and configure them well for your business. Posting a short message or photos now and then is enough to bring life to the brewery in the first instance. Consciously consider the tone you use in your messages. Make sure that this so-called tone of voice is heard in every message. Do customers respond to your messages? Show that you read their posts and respond with a nice comment.

Smooth website

Has your company's website been around for some time? Then there is a good chance that it will not be legible on a smartphone or tablet. Which is a shame, because in recent years consumers have used a smartphone or tablet more often than a regular computer for their searches. So make sure your website is scalable for mobile use. With a search engine like Google, your company will not even be among the search results if your website does not meet the requirements. In addition to company information, you can inform customers on your site about new developments and completed projects. Therefore, spend some time taking good photos after completion of a job. This is how potential customers see the quality of your work. And if your website is found, does your construction company have the correct landing page?

Think of Facebook

Not on Facebook yet? That's a missed opportunity, because Facebook is arguably the most important platform for keeping in touch with your customers. For example, you can advertise within your own region at a relatively low cost. Create a public company page so that everyone can see your company information and posted messages. You can use this page, for example, by informing customers about developments within the sector or about projects that you have recently completed. Make sure you have good quality photos and don't use too much text. You can also invite your customers to leave a comment on your page after completion of a project. Facebook also offers the possibility to enter your own url - the name of your page. This ensures better search results on Google.

Rather on LinkedIn

In addition to Facebook, LinkedIn is also one of the favorite platforms for the construction industry. Research shows that about 60 percent of construction companies use LinkedIn and Facebook, with Twitter as a close third. Through these channels you can reach people from your own network who can contribute to your brand awareness by sharing your business news with others.

Online advertising pays off

You can advertise very specifically on all social media platforms - including Twitter and LinkedIn. You can do the same with Google AdWords. An important advantage of online advertising is that you can immediately see whether it will yield anything. All platforms offer extensive reports and other data on the basis of which you can make adjustments if necessary. On most platforms, you can do this yourself fairly easily. If you want a more extensive and integrated approach, then it is smart to call on a good online marketer. A true specialist certainly pays for itself if you set up an extensive advertising process.

Handy social media tools

You can also use online tools such as Buffer, Hootsuite or Skybird Social to post messages on social media. This can be useful for periodically repeating messages without having to worry about it. You also don't have to come up with funny or interesting news every day. This means that managing your social media takes as little time as possible and you can continue to do what you do best.
